Minox Awarded CLIMIT Research Funding for Developing Compact CO2 Capture System

Moreld Minox awarded financial support from the CLIMIT-programme for development of  our Compact Carbon Capture-system

The support from Gassnova, together with financial and technological support from our main partners, Repsol, ProSep and USN enables the project to enter into the execution phase.

Moreld Minox is grateful and excited to announce the successful application to Gassnova and the CLIMIT-programme for financial support for development of our compact carbon capture technology. The successful application for financing means that the project has achieved the necessary combined external funding to execute the next stage of the technology development project.

Repsol Norge and Moreld Minox, together with University of South-Eastern Norway and ProSep, are collaborating on proof-of-concept of the Minox Compact CO2-capture system. The project will seek verification of the absorption- and energy efficiency of the amine-based compact absorber by constructing a pilot-scale system. Repsol Norge will bring industry knowledge and financing into the project, and is a vital partner in ensuring the project’s success. The project will take place in late 2022 and 2023. A potential for the technology is to enable CO2-capture on locations where conventional solutions become too large and heavy. The technology will be optimised toward capturing 200 000 tonnes CO2/year from offshore gas turbines, and can be scaled to suit most capacities. Enabling offshore CO2-capture is an alternative to electrification from shore and a solution where electrification is impossible. The technology will also be applicable for several types of process stream containing CO2. Together, Repsol Norge, ProSep, and Moreld Minox take a step further towards a net-zero future.
