Minox® Products
Engineering the energy transition.
30 years of robust engineering, project execution, and innovation. Our product portfolio expands from the traditional and well known Minox deaeration technology into emerging markets. Our mission is to be the preferred supplier of water and gas treatment technology across all energy markets, supplying a sustainable energy future.
Deaeration systems
Our deaeration systems can fit applications across several industries onshore and offshore.
- Seawater injection for IOR and EOR
- Process water deoxygenation
- Cooling water deoxygenation
The Minox systems are capable of handling any liquid flow rate.
A key process feature of this Minox deoxygenation system is the method of contacting the nitrogen stream with the water. This is done over two stages through static mixers where co-current turbulent flow is achieved. This produces highly efficient mixing of water and gas, stripping the dissolved oxygen from the water to exceptionally low concentrations. The Minox Compact edition does not require any scavenger chemicals.
In all Minox deaeration systems, the nitrogen stripping gas is circulated in a closed loop and regenerated over our chemical reactor, where a purity of at least 99.995 % is achieved.
The low system weight combined with flexible, skid mounted design allows for customization in accordance with the customers’ specifications. Each unit can be tailor made to fit into a given space which makes it possible to install on existing platforms, or when conventional deaeration systems are being upgraded.

Based upon the same principle of recycling and purifying nitrogen gas in a closed loop, the Minox Tower system offers a more sustainable and competitive alternative to vacuum and fuel gas deaerators, yielding a very low residual O2 content. In this system the contacting between the nitrogen stream and the water is done through counter–current flow over a structured packing. The system can operate under atmospheric, or a positive pressure. The danger related to using natural gas as stripping gas is removed and flaring is avoided. Reduced weight and lower operational expenditures are among the other product advantages.
It is possible to convert existing vacuum or fuel gas towers into Minox Tower.
Membrane deaeration is an efficient way of removing dissolved gases and can be advantageous for low flow rate applications. Moreld Minox is an approved supplier of 3M-Liqui-Cel® Membrane Contactors. We can supply complete membrane water deaeration systems, including chemical dosing and other treatment necessary to achieve the desired water quality. Additionally, if combined with our high-purity nitrogen regenerator, Moreld Minox will reduce the number of required membrane contactors by up to 30%.

Gas treatment systems
Whenever nitrogen purity is a key factor for the success of operations, Moreld Minox can reduce the oxygen content of the available instrument air or generated nitrogen to less than 50 ppm through our field-proven technology.
Moreld Minox has developed a scrubber (patent pending) that allows for efficient scrubbing of variable gas flows through a single scrubber vessel.
A challenge with gas scrubbing is to avoid channeling and loss in efficiency when turn-down is required. Minox variable scrubber concept relies on Minox contactor sizing expertise to design an absorption column with chambers to allow for a variable gas flow.
Minox DryGas, an innovative, compact and lightweight system for dehydration of natural gas. The technology is based on static mixers and high efficiency separation. The system relies on traditional Minox efficient and compact mass transfer.
Advantages:
- Lower, lighter, smaller
- Flexible installation
- Independent of vessel movement
Reduced TEG circulation rate at high pressure and low temperature
Moreld Minox has developed a compact gas washer. The system utilizes the venturi-effect to mix the gas stream with potable water in an inline mixer. Entrained liquid droplets containing impurities and unwanted species are contacted by the water and coalescence occurs, thus water droplets are easily separated out in a demister cyclone and removed through a drain.
Hydrogen Solutions
Hydrogen production from electrolysis requires scrubbing and processing of the gases exiting the liquid-gas separators in order to avoid carry-over of alkali hydroxides (lye).
A typical facility will have a low-pressure contactor tower for washing of the hydrogen stream. However, the oxygen stream should also be processed, and removing the lye from this stream purifies and upgrades the oxygen. This purification can make the oxygen a valuable bi-product of the hydrogen production. The removal aids in avoiding release of lye to the environment. Further, the purification will reduce loss of an important compound for the hydrogen production process. Both cost and logistics can be reduced when the requirement for lye is reduced.
Moreld Minox supplies a compact lye remover (CLR). The CLR can be installed downstream of the separator vessel, after a first oxygen compression step. The CLR utilizes the venturi-effect to mix the gas stream with potable water in an inline mixer. Entrained liquid droplets are contacted by the freshwater and coalescence occurs, thus water droplets containing lye are easily separated out in a demister cyclone and removed through a drain back to the lye reservoir.
Hydrogen gas often contains traces of oxygen which must be removed prior to compression and storage, the Minox DeOxo Dryer utilizes Minox’ decades of deoxygenation experience to reduce the oxygen content of the gas. This is done in a catalytic reactor, combining hydrogen and oxygen to form water. The water content is removed through a drying step.
Rebuilds & upgrades
By connecting our gas regeneration skid to the gas inlet and outlet of the existing stripping column, we can replace the use of fuel gas for water deaeration with our ultra-pure nitrogen. The solution is compact and retrofittable. By replacing fuel gas stripping with nitrogen stripping, use of corrosion inhibitor is no longer necessary.
With use of our gas regeneration technology, we can rebuild vacuum towers to operate at positive pressure, thus increasing throughput of seawater with up to 40%. Due to our ultra-pure nitrogen, we can achieve less than 20 ppb of dissolved oxygen in the seawater, effectively preventing corrosion without the use of oxygen scavenging chemicals.
